November 2, 2023 - Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are proud to be a partner with the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force in our mission to protect children and youth from child sex predators. We recently participated in Operation Monster Mash, a two-week joint operation involving 18 law enforcement agencies across the region that has resulted in 12 arrests so far.

One of our detectives who is assigned to the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force assisted the Roseville Police Department in arresting 50-year-old Matthew Todd Berg and 35-year-old Robert Owen Gunwall for possession of child pornography during the operation. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office values the strong working relationship it has built with allied agencies and will continue to prioritize similar operations to keep our children safe.

Placer County Sheriff Wayne Woo reiterated his commitment to removing child predators from society saying, “Our top priority is to protect our children and youth under all circumstances. We stand united against all child sex predators and send a clear message to them: Our children’s safety is non-negotiable, and we will always work to ruthlessly pursue justice to ensure their protection.”
