November 11, 2023 - Sonora Police Department officials report Anthony Isaiah Crudo, 33, of Sonora was arrested for felony threats, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm and having a firearm with the serial numbers removed.

Just after 1:35 pm on Thursday, November 9th, the Sonora Police Department received a call regarding a subject, leaving the area of Adventist Health Hospital, who made a threat to commit a shooting at the courthouse.

A notification was made to the Tuolumne County Superior Court, and their staff initiated a lockdown. Our officers immediately began searching the area of the courthouse and the 600 block of Mono Way, where officers knew Mr. Crudo to reside.

Our officers spotted Mr. Crudo near his residence on Mono Way. He initially attempted to run but was quickly surrounded and taken into custody without incident. During a search of his person, a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol was found in his waistband.

A search warrant for additional firearms was served at his home shortly following the arrest; however, only a small amount of ammunition was recovered. Mr. Crudo was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail with an enhanced bail set at $250,000.

"Individuals identified herein were arrested on suspicion of the crimes for which they have been charged. All such charges are merely accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty," officials said.
