November 13, 2023 - FRESNO, Calif. – In recognition of Veterans Day and in honor of those who have served in the military, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) has released a short video profiling Bancroft Construction Services, a Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Enterprise providing specialized environmental compliance consulting across Central Valley construction.

Bancroft Construction Services is led by US Navy veteran Ashley Driscoll. Bancroft began working in Construction Package (CP) 4 providing biological and cultural monitoring and preconstruction services and has since expanded to providing services to Construction Packages 1 and 2-3.

The Authority is committed to small businesses playing a major role in building the high-speed rail project. As of Aug. 31, 2023, 812 certified small businesses are working on the program statewide, 219 of which are from the Central Valley. In addition, 99 of the 812 small businesses are certified Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBE).

This year, the Authority has announced the completion of nine high-speed rail structures across the Central Valley. Most recently, overcrossings at Kansas Avenue in Kings County and Davis Avenue in Fresno County were completed and opened to traffic.

Since the start of construction, the Authority has created nearly 11,500 construction jobs, a majority going to residents from the Central Valley. The Authority has begun work to extend the 119 miles under construction to 171 miles of future electrified high-speed rail from Merced to Bakersfield.

There are more than 25 active construction sites in California’s Central Valley, with the Authority having also environmentally cleared 422 miles of the high-speed rail program from the Bay Area to the Los Angeles Basin.
