November 4, 2015 - Because of concerns relating to the regulations contained in the Public Employees’ Retirement Law (PERL) the County has taken the precautionary steps of not utilizing Dr. Charles Mosher’s services as Acting County Health Officer as previously announced. The Board of Supervisors is grateful to Dr. Mosher for his willingness to assist the County and regrets being unable to utilize his expertise.
Dr. Robert J. Rose, a local physician, has agreed to provide medical services through the County’s Health Clinic beginning October 29, 2015. While contracting with the County, Dr. Rose intends to continue his private medical practice in Mariposa.
Dr. Rose’s addition to County staff as an Independent Contractor solidifies a need the County has had for a medical professional since the departure of Dr. Robert Ryder, who resigned from his position as County Health Officer on October 16th to pursue other professional opportunities.
Additionally, the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors has appointed County Administrative Officer Mary Hodson to serve as Acting County Health Director to oversee the administrative portion of the County Health Department. The Board of Supervisors will give direction next week on recruiting for a permanent Department Head of the Health Department.
The Board of Supervisors is confident that the existing Health Department staff will continue to provide exemplary services to county residents and appreciates Dr. Rose filling in to provide the required medical oversight.
