This outlook depicts around a 45 percent chance of above normal precipitation for our area from Friday, December 1st, 2023 through Tuesday, December 5th, 2023.

.SYNOPSIS...
Near freezing temperatures overnight with a Freeze Warning through
Thursday morning. Rain and snow chances increase Thursday with
chances into the weekend as a trough moves in Wednesday.

.DISCUSSION...
We have a ridge over the Pacific Northwest and a cutoff low off the
coast of California which has set up the winds to be dominant from
the North bringing in cold air. The cold air being advected in has
led overnight lows to be near freezing leading to a Freeze Warning
until Thursday morning. Latest model ensembles are in good agreement
that the ridge will move east through the early part of the week
leading to a trough sliding in from the Gulf of Alaska starting
Wednesday.
The ensembles are in agreement that the trough would persist into
the weekend. Latest probabilistic models have between 15 and 30
percent chance of rain accumulating from Wednesday through Saturday
morning. The models have between 20 and 30 percent chance of at
least a tenth of an inch of rain from Thursday 4 PM to Friday 4 PM.
