We are pleased to inform our readership that all 30 of the vouchers available each month are now being requested by individuals who wish to have a cat spayed or a dog neutered. To clarify the procedure: you can call the voucher phone number at: (209) 732-6194 to make your request and leave your contact information. You will receive a return call from Kathleen, our voucher coordinator, usually within a day or so. Occasionally Kathleen will be out of town for as much as a week, but rest assured that she will get back to you. The voucher that you receive can be redeemed at the veterinarian of your choice. It will cover nearly the whole cost of the procedure, depending on which veterinarian you choose. Please let others know about the phone number and the process.

We still have a vacancy in the position of secretary, and we would like to fill it with someone who lives in the area we serve: Coulterville, Greeley Hill, Big Oak Flat, Groveland, and Lake Don Pedro. You will recall that NPC is a non-profit organization. Our by-laws require that we have five directors on our Board, one of which is secretary. As it is, our president and vice-president both live in Merced, 50 miles from Coulterville! Certainly there is someone from our local community who would be interested in being secretary. The position requires two hours a month, one hour at our meeting and perhaps as much as an hour preparing the minutes for the meeting. You would be serving your community in performing a very important task. Please think about it, and call Carmel at: (209) 878-3134.

Thanks to the generosity of those of you who have chosen to support NPC, we now have sufficient funds to increase the voucher program beyond 30 per month. We have also received a suggestion that we expand the program to include other communities. Come to our next meeting and let us know your thoughts! We’ll be at Coulterville Community Hall at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015 and we’ll end the meeting at 6:00 p.m. or earlier. You will also learn first-hand what the secretary job is like.
