Second Fentanyl Charge in Valley Springs

December 17, 2023 - Calaveras County Sheriff's Office officials report that on December 12, 2023, at about 2:00 p.m., 41-year-old Bryan Louis Sims Jr. was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office. The arrest took place in Valley Springs, CA, in the 8000 block of Goggin Street.

The warrant for which Sims Jr. was arrested had been issued as a result of Sims Jr. failing to appear in court for a November arrest related to fentanyl drug sales and firearm violations. Deputies and Probation Officers with Calaveras County, who knew of his outstanding warrant, recognized Sims Jr. as he pulled into a residence. Initially, he did not comply with the deputy's commands but was ultimately arrested without any incident.

Upon booking at the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Jail, Sims Jr. was found to possess approximately 1.9 grams of fentanyl, which he had concealed in his undergarments. This discovery led to an additional charge of bringing a controlled substance into the jail facility. Fentanyl is a highly potent and dangerous drug, even in small quantities, and poses a significant risk to public health.

Sims Jr. is now booked on charges of failure to appear in court as promised and bringing a controlled substance into the jail. This incident highlights law enforcement's continuous efforts to combat the distribution and possession of illegal narcotics, particularly fentanyl.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of our community. They are dedicated to pursuing those who evade the legal system and pose a threat to public health through the possession or distribution of illegal drugs.
