Bill Davis painting 1Emmy award winning Oakhurst artist, Bill Davis, installed his painting, “Enjoying California Treasures,” in the Valley Children’s Hospital today. The event was the exciting conclusion to a journey begun in 2014. Bill was one of several local artist recruited to provide 2 and 3 dimensional works of art, as part of the hospital’s current interior remodel.

Led by Aesthetics, Inc. Art Project Managers, Sorina Igreti and Pam Nickell, artists from the greater San Joaquin Valley area were asked to provide artworks that uplift and provide distraction to children and their families, facing severe health challenges.

Given the theme Enjoying California Treasures, by Sorina, Bill presented two color sketches for consideration, before beginning work on his 3’ x 6’ acrylic on panel painting. “I wanted to create an image that visitors could go back to again and again, each time discovering something they hadn’t seen before,” Bill says. The highly colorful image presents Californians engaged in healthy pastimes unique to the state: rock climbing El Capitan, mountain biking in Joshua Tree, whale-watching, surfing and snowboarding, to name a few. “I grew up in California and experienced most of what I’ve represented in the painting, so they’re all activities close to my heart,” Bill added.

Bill’s painting now hangs on the 2nd floor of the hospital and is there for visitors to experience up close.
