Deputies, Explorers Show How Kids Get Exploited

January 3, 2024 - Tulare County Sheriff's Office officials report that January is National Human Trafficking Awareness month, and the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Human Trafficking Unit would like to take this opportunity to explain how easily kids can be recruited into a life of sexual exploitation and prostitution.

Human traffickers lure their victims by using charm, lies and deception, promising a better life and opportunities to make money. These promises are always false.

To parents, it is important to know what your kids are doing online and who they are associating themselves with. Talk to your kids so you know what they’re doing online and in person.

Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and the men and women of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office are dedicated to rescuing victims of human trafficking, whether from the sex trade industry, forced labor, or involuntary domestic servitude.

Often, victims feel embarrassed, ashamed, or are too scared to come forward and ask for help. If you find yourself in a difficult situation, or know someone that you suspect is being trafficked, please contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 733-6218 or anonymously at (559) 725-4194 or tcso@tipnow.com.
