January 12, 2024 - National Weather Service Hanford Office officials report a Winter Storm Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Sierra Nevada above 7,000 feet from 10:00 P.M. this evening until 10:00 A.M. Sunday morning.

The majority of this snow will fall Saturday evening and Saturday night. Winds will gust as high as 50 mph on exposed ridgetops and near the crest.

Travel will be extremely difficult or nearly impossible.

If you plan to travel, consider alternate strategies.

If you must travel, remember to carry tire chains, plenty of food, a good deal of water, warm clothing, and a flashlight in your vehicle.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Gusty
  winds could bring down tree branches.
