November 21, 2015 - The Mariposa County October 2015 unemployment rate of 6.0% is 1.1% lower than October 2014 when the rate was 7.1%.
During October 2015, 480 residents were unemployed. A drop of 18.6% from October 2014 when 590 residents were unemployed.
The Leisure and Hospitality industry with 1,990 workers during October 2015 employed 260 fewer workers (-11.6%) than during September 2015 when 2,250 workers were in the industry. Compared to October 2014 the Leisure and Hospitality industry employed 40 fewer workers (-2.0%) when the industry employed 2,030 workers.
The Government employed 6.5% more workers during October 2015 (2,120) than in October 2014 when 1,990 people were employed in Government jobs.
Construction employment in October 2015 was up 11.8% over October 2014 with 190 employees compared to 170 during October 2014.
The Civilian Labor Force came in at 7,980 during October 2015. The Labor Force decreased by 250 people (-3.0%) from October 2014 when the Labor Force was at 8,230.
There were 7,500 employees in the county during October 2015, a decrease of 150 employees in the county over October 2014 when 7,650 residents were working in the county. That results in a year to year decrease of 2.0%.
