February 1, 2024 - Nevada County Sheriff's Office officials report that Licensed Clinical Social Worker Anna Garrison has joined the Sheriff’s Mobile Crisis Team.

Say hello to this dynamic duo! Deputy Bryan Travis and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Anna Garrison are members of the Sheriff’s Mobile Crisis Team (MCT). Together, they respond to a variety of calls for service, including mental health, substance abuse, welfare checks, and homelessness to de-escalate critical incidents, help people experiencing a mental health need connect with appropriate services, and proactively intervene to reduce rates of arrest and incarceration for mental health-related events.

“Pairing a social worker with a deputy on calls for service provides a balanced approach to helping someone,” explained Garrison.

When this team isn’t on active calls, they do follow-up checks with people who previously experienced mental health-related calls for service. The goal is to build trust between the person and the Sheriff’s MCT so if that person ever has a mental-health related crisis again, they know they can dependably call on the Sheriff’s MCT for assistance.
