Human Skeletal Remains Identified
February 1, 2024 - Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on January 31, 2024, the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau positively identified the skeletal remains as that of Trammell Evans of Florida. The cause of death remains undetermined, as the Coroner Bureau’s investigation is ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.
Original Details: On January 25, 2024, at 12:08 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to the Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms in reference to human skeletal remains located off a trail. Federal Park Rangers were alerted to the discovery by researchers and requested the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau to respond. The Coroner’s Bureau arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation. At this time, the identity of the deceased and the cause of death have not been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
