February 3, 2024 - Fresno Police Department officials report that 25-year-old Gabriel Flores has been arrested for the 2021 murder of Zachary Xayavong. On Thursday, July 1, 2021, just before 11:00 pm, Fresno Police Officers were dispatched to Rotary Park at Cedar Avenue and Sierra Avenue regarding a vehicle striking a concrete wall. Officers arrived and located 17-year-old Zachary Xayavong inside the vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Xayavong was transported to CRMC Hospital and treated for his wounds. Xayavong died during the week of July 5, 2021, due to complications and the severity of his gunshot wounds.

Homicide investigators identified Gabriel Flores and two other suspects as the persons responsible for fatally shooting Xayavong. Police are searching for 20-year-old Noel Pina Leon and 30-year-old Israel Luna. Both suspects have arrest warrants for murder.
