TRAFFIC ADVISORY 
Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures 
Interstate 5 and State Routes 59, 99 & 140 

February 9, 2024 - MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5), State Route 59 (SR-59), SR-99, and SR-140 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

INTERSTATE 5

• Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through July 31, 2024.

          o ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line). Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.

STATE ROUTE 59

• One-way traffic control at Nevada Street for shoulder work on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

STATE ROUTE 99

• Full on and off-ramp closures on northbound SR-99 at Hammatt Avenue Over-Crossing for striping work beginning Sunday, February 11, through Friday, February 16, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures on southbound SR-99 at Hammatt Avenue Over-Crossing for striping work beginning Sunday, February 11, through Friday, February 16, 2024, from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures on northbound SR-99 at Winton Parkway Over-Crossing for striping work beginning Sunday, February 11, through Friday, February 16, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures on southbound SR-99 at Winton Parkway Over-Crossing for striping work beginning Sunday, February 11, through Friday, February 16, 2024, from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
• Full on and off-ramp closures on northbound SR-99 at Shanks Road Over-Crossing for striping work beginning Sunday, February 11, through Friday, February 16, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

• One-way traffic control from Kibby Road to North Orchard Drive for utility work on Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control at Sante Fe Grand Road for guardrail work beginning Monday, February 12, through Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• One-way traffic control at Weir Avenue for guardrail work beginning Monday, February 12, through Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• One-way traffic control at Howard Road for guardrail work beginning Monday, February 12, through Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• One-way traffic control at Moomjean Avenue for striping work beginning Monday, February 12, through Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• One-way traffic control at N. Orchard Drive for striping work beginning Monday, February 12, through Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• One-way traffic control at N. Cunningham Road for guardrail work beginning Monday, February 12, through Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Motorists should expect 5-10 minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to take place as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
