Missing Person Located Deceased 

Update 2-22-2024 Per Plumas County Sheriff's Office: 

We regret to inform you that Ms. Elmerena Waelder was found deceased last night by Search and Rescue with the assistance of a neighbor. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family during this difficult time. Further details are not available at this time.

Update 2-21-24 Per Plumas County Sheriff's Office: 

On Wednesday the search continued. Plumas County Search and Rescue was back in the area but was unfortunately unable to locate Ms. Waelder. We placed a request for air support to aid with the search today; however, due to weather and priority calls they were unable to fly in Plumas today.

Missing Person 

February 21, 2024 - Plumas County Sheriff's Office officials report that they are actively investigating the disappearance of 78-year-old Elmerena Waelder. Elmerena was reported missing this afternoon when a family member came home to their home on C Road in Clio to find she was gone.

Through the investigation, we believe she left the home on C Road sometime around 10:00 P.M. on the night of February 19, 2024. It is unknown what she was wearing.

Elmerena suffers from a behavioral health condition and is considered an at-risk missing adult.

We urge anyone with information regarding Elmerena's whereabouts to contact the Plumas County Sheriff's Office at 530-283-6300.

The Plumas County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate and follow up on any leads. Plumas County Search and Rescue has been dispatched to search for Elermena.
