RE: Remove District III Planning Commissioner

RECOMMENDATION AND JUSTIFICATION:
Remove Heather Bernikoff from the Planning Commission, representing District III, effective immediately.

This action is based on the recommendation of the District III Supervisor, and is permissible under County Code section 2.52.040 which states that:

A member of the commission may be removed by a majority vote of the board of supervisors. A vacancy is filled in the same manner as the original appointment. A person appointed to fill a vacancy serves for the remainder of the unexpired term.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY OF BOARD ACTIONS:
The Board first appointed Ms. Bernikoff to the Planning Commission on October 22, 2013, at the recommendation of then District III Supervisor, Janet Bibby, and reappointed her on February 24, 2015, on the recommendation of the current District III Supervisor. Her current term is set to expire on January 7, 2019.

The Board took a similar action in 1992 to remove the District II Planning Commissioner.
