February 24, 2024 – Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Wednesday February 21st, 2024, just before 10:00 P.M. in the evening a deputy made a traffic stop in the area of Sawmill Flat Road on a vehicle with an unreadable license plate. The deputy spoke to the driver, 44-year-old Gina Cook and passenger, 50-year-old Michael Boring. Through their investigation, deputies found Cook had recently been released from jail and was out on bail for another case related to drug sales. She was also on searchable probation.

Deputies searched Boring and found drug use paraphernalia. Deputies searched the vehicle and found drug use paraphernalia and a purse which contained several bags containing varying amounts of fentanyl, several empty, unused bags and over $600 in cash.

Deputies arrested Cook and Boring and transported them to the Dambacher Detention Center (DDC). While in route to the jail Cook told the deputy, she had additional fentanyl on her person. An additional search of Cook found two more small containers with fentanyl inside of them. Cook was booked at the DDC on charges of possession of a narcotic controlled substance for sale and committing a felony while out on bail. Boring was booked at the DDC on charges of possession of drug use paraphernalia. Deputies later weighed the fentanyl and found it was approximately 48 grams total.
