February 24, 2024 - Sonora, California –– Tuolumne County District Attorney Cassandra Jenecke has announced that on January 29, 2024, former Tuolumne resident 47-year-old Jacob Crabtree was sentenced to 22 years 8 months in State Prison.
The sentence comes after Mr. Crabtree pled guilty to 5 counts of Forcible Lewd and Lascivious Act on a Minor in violation of Penal Code section 288(b)(1) committed against his niece over a three and a half period starting when she was ten years old and 1 count of Forcible Sexual Penetration by Force in violation of Penal Code section 289(a)(1)(A) committed against his daughter’s 19 year old friend, whom he had known since she was about 5 years old. Each of the crimes Mr. Crabtree pled guilty to are violent offenses which statutorily limit the credits he can receive in prison and qualify as strike offenses should he commit a felony in the future. As a result of these convictions Mr. Crabtree will also have to register as a sex offender. Due to the nature of the convictions, Mr. Crabtree will be evaluated by the Department of State Hospitals before he is eligible for release on parole to determine if he qualifies as a Sexually Violent Predator.
This case was investigated by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Samantha Arnerich.
