February 27, 2024 - Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that early on Monday morning, Sergeant Sarkis was patrolling the area of Highway 59 near Mission Avenue when he saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. While trying to catch up to the vehicle, the car pulled into a driveway on Highway 59.

Sergeant Sarkis witnessed the occupants of the vehicle throw a bag from the car. Both subjects, identified as Robert McKnight and Dennis Popejoy, were detained. Sergeant Sarkis located the bag and found various narcotics inside.

It was later determined, the bag contained 44 grams of Marijuana, 180 grams of Methamphetamine, 7 Hydrocodone Pills, and two scales. McKnight and Popejoy were ultimately arrested for drug and drug sale-related charges. Great job, Sergeant Sarkis!
