Homicide Investigation
February 28, 2024 - Fresno Police Department officials report that on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 12:37 p.m., officers from the Northwest Policing District responded to the 4200 block of North Fruit Avenue regarding a report of a gunshot victim.
Officers arrived and located 38-year-old Deandre Jackson (pictured below) suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to CRMC for treatment; however he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
At 12:45 p.m., officers received another call of a shooting victim, this time in the 3100 block of West Norwich Avenue. This victim was identified as a 16-year-old male juvenile. The juvenile victim was transported to CRMC and is still listed in critical but stable condition.
Homicide detectives arrived and initiated their investigation. Detectives discovered that the shooting of the 16-year-old juvenile was related to the shooting on North Fruit Avenue.
Detectives learned that there was an argument in a parking lot involving several people before the gunshots were fired. At this time, detectives are continuing to identify and interview witnesses. They are also reviewing video surveillance from the area. Detectives have determined that this was an isolated incident between a group of individuals who were acquainted with each other. This was the 4th murder of 2024.
