March 1, 2024 - Madera County Sheriff's Office officials issue Madera County resident winter storm preparation and resource guide.
ARE YOU READY? As we await the incoming storm system, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services urges our community to monitor weather forecasts and begin preparing now for potential impacts. Rain, snow, and high winds are all expected in the coming days.
We strongly discourage travel of any kind, unless absolutely essential. If you decide to travel, exercise extreme caution and be prepared with proper safety equipment, including snow chains, food, water, and warm clothing. Traveling with GPS, flashlights, and a shovel is also recommended.
We ask that residents have an emergency kit and evacuation plan in place and be prepared to evacuate at a moment’s notice. For those who are not evacuating, or whose access to main roads is diminished, we ask you to be prepared to self-sustain for extended periods of time.
For an up to the minute evacuation map that shows evacuated areas and road closures in real time, please visit MaderaAware.com. It’s also where you can look up and familiarize yourself with your evacuation zone.
Anyone in need of assistance of any kind is asked to contact our 24/7 resource line at (559) 675-7770.
