These adulterated products have the potential to cause severe adverse health effects due to misuse, overuse, interaction with other medications, underlying health conditions, and overall lack of oversight or consultation with medical professionals.

At this time, Pyramid Wholesale, based in Los Angeles, California, has not issued a voluntary recall for these products. CDPH issued a Notice of Violation to Pyramid Wholesale and the result of the ongoing investigation may subject the firm to further enforcement action including civil or criminal penalties. The firm warehoused and distributed these products for other manufacturers.

The products were distributed under 11 different brand names and varied in product form and size. They were sold in bulk to other distributors and retailers in California and out of state. All 11 adulterated products are included in this warning and should not be consumed. A full list is available below.

CDPH recommends consumers experiencing any ill effects after consuming these products should consult their health care provider. Anyone finding these products for sale should call the CDPH Complaint Hotline at (800) 495-3232 or submit an electronic report.

CDPH is issuing this warning to ensure that consumers are aware that these products should not be consumed. The adulteration was discovered by laboratory testing of samples collected during an ongoing investigation. To date, no illnesses have been reported.
