Reasons for the adjustment:
When a holiday falls on a Monday, the remainder of the week will be able to have four complete school days. This adjustment will also mean that transportation schedules and pick up times for students will be consistent every week. Furthermore, teachers and staff will gain additional afternoon collaboration time to support the implementations of Common Core, Project-Based Learning and additional student technology and devices.
As of now, this schedule is only for the 2014-15 school year; however, if stakeholders find the new model acceptable, a similar model could be used to develop future calendars.
In early to mid-August, site principals will be announcing the exact release times for their child’s school through phone calls to parents and by sending home announcements.
For the entire calendar, visit the MCUSD website at www.mariposa.k12.ca.us.
For local release times, please check with your student’s school.
