Long-Time Sheriff’s Volunteer Fondly Remembered
March 21, 2024 - Tulare County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Sheriff Mike Boudreaux is saddened to announce the death of long-time volunteer Evelyn Lowe on Saturday. She was 83.
Her love of horses led her to become a member of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Posse, assisting on Search and Rescue missions in the mountains and riding in parades. Evelyn made history when she took the reins of the mounted group as the first woman to be elected president of the Posse in 2004.
Sheriff Boudreaux named her Volunteer of the Year in 2016 for her service as a Volunteer in Patrol out of the Porterville Substation.
Sheriff Boudreaux and the men and women of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office are grateful for Evelyn’s dedication to service for the department. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family.
