It’s that time of year for the sound of sleigh bells. So join the MSO for not one but four musical sleigh rides – including Serge Prokofiev’s entire Lt. Kijé Suite – with the famed “Troika” movement. The suite has been featured frequently in film and pop culture (most famously in Woody Allen’s classic 1975 comedy Love and Death.) The concert will also include much more familiar music ranging from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro Overture to Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Greensleeves Fantasy to the heart-rendingly beautiful Evening Prayer and Dream Pantomime from Engelbert Humperdinck’s seasonal classic Hansel und Gretel – and much, much more. There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than with live orchestral symphonic music – performed by YOUR very own 60-member MSO: THE symphony orchestra of the Yosemite region.
