April 11, 2024 - Fresno Police Department officials report on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 4:17 p.m., Southeast officers responded to the 1500 Block of North Ninth Street for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers quickly arrived in the area and found 42-year-old Yong Vang suffering from a gunshot wound. Vang was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center but he was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Witnesses told detectives that prior to hearing the gunshots, the victim was involved in a physical fight with an unidentified person. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and attempting to gather additional information as well as locate any video evidence. This was the eighth murder of the year.
