April 12, 2024 – The John C. Fremont Healthcare District received much needed up-to-date neonatal equipment through a financial award from the JCF JCF Warming TableHospital Foundation. Even though the Healthcare District is not a labor-delivery hospital, it has several births each year in its Emergency Department.

“We are proud to have raised funds to give to the Healthcare District in support of its youngest patients and their mothers,” said Jill Harry, Foundation Giving Committee Chair.

“Through the generosity of the community and individuals who attended the Black and White Ball,” continued Harry,  “we were able to provide funding for all but one piece of equipment.”

The Healthcare District is still in need of a warming table for newborns and small infants. The Foundation is requesting public donations to help them fund this request. Pictured is an example image provided from the manufacturer.

Newborns as well as small infants require properly-sized equipment that has the ability to meet their very specific needs.

"We are grateful for the support of the Hospital Foundation" said Rachel Key, Senior Director of Ambulatory Services. "This gift will give us even more capacity to serve neonates in our Emergency Department with a high standard of care."

"We asked the Foundation for this support,” Key continued, “ and they responded quickly, working to provide us with the things we needed."

The Foundation has not yet been able to provide one last piece of needed equipment: a warming table. Although many local residents provided support during a community-based campaign over the holiday season, the Foundation came up $3,500 short.

“We would love to get the last piece of equipment purchased for the District so it is in place to serve newborns when they need it,” said Heather Bernikoff, Foundation President.

The Foundation is requesting the help of the community to close this gap.

“The District has an old incubator they use now,” said Bernikoff. “It works, but we would like to get them something more updated with multiple functions.”

“Equipment like this is very expensive,” Bernikoff continued. “The Foundation was able to contribute a significant portion of the funding needed thanks to the generosity of many individuals. We hope more members of the community will help us with this last piece for newborn children.”

If you are interested in contributing to the Foundation for the warming table or any other part of their work, you can donate via check to JCFHF, PO Box 1093, Mariposa, CA 95338, or through the website jcfhospitalfoundation.org. Donations are tax deductible.
