April 12, 2024 - Anglers in the Spring Trout Derby at Lake McSwain soaked in some great weather and reeled in some big fish this past weekend.

The tournament was managed through the smart phone app FishDonkey, with 228 anglers participating.

“Everyone had a great time up here. The scenery and the weather were fantastic,” said MID Parks and Recreation Director Brooke Gutierrez.

The Derby was held from 6 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, to noon on Sunday, April 7.

The winners were:

Largest Trout: $2,000

Nash Aguilar – 22.5 inches

Stringer of 3 Longest Trout: $2,000

Nash Aguilar – 22.5 inches; 21.75 inches; 21.25 inches for a total of 65.5 inches.

Wild Card: $500

Salvador Alvarez – 14.25

Ciriaco Ramos – 16 inches
