December 29, 2015 - SACRAMENTO, CA – Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) announced today providing $150,000 to Calaveras County to further efforts to provide safe and sanitary interim housing to individuals and families displaced from their primary residence by the Butte Fire. The Butte Fire destroyed nearly 500 residences and nearly 400 other structures when it burned more than 70,000 acres in September 2015. One hundred percent of the GSFA funds will be used for these direct assistance purposes.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to those impacted by these ever-increasing, devastating California wildfires,” said Kevin Cann, GSFA Chair and Mariposa County Supervisor. “While the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) strive to address the issue of wildfires and forest management on the policy front, we are proud to be able to support recovery and rebuilding efforts through GSFA.”

GSFA’s passion is helping to build strong communities through homeownership and economic development, helping more than 61,000 families with the purchase of a home, gifting more than $85 million in down payment assistance grants, and helping homeowners make energy efficient upgrades to their properties. GSFA has distinguished itself as a leader in housing finance over the past two decades.
