May 2, 2024 - Fresno Police Department officials report on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., Fresno Police officers in the Northwest District responded to Fairmont Avenue and Holt Avenue for a ShotSpotter activation. Responding officers found 37-year-old Xavier Gladney suffering from a gunshot wound. Gladney was transported to CRMC, where he was pronounced deceased.

Additionally, a thirteen-year-old juvenile was dropped off at CRMC with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. This juvenile was also present at Fairmont Avenue and Holt Avenue when Gladney was fatally shot.

Homicide detectives have identified the suspect responsible for the murder of Gladney as 33-year-old Darren Williams. A warrant for murder and assault with a deadly weapon has been issued for his arrest. We are asking the public for any information leading to the arrest of Williams.

The motive for this shooting stems from a gang-related interpersonal dispute.
