May 5, 2024 - WASHINGTON, DC – Last week, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) applauded news that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has officially announced the jacky rosen senator nevadafinal rule expanding Affordable Care Act coverage to include Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients. This officially codifies a rule proposed by the Administration last year that Senator Rosen also praised.

“I’ve been pushing for expanded affordable health care coverage for Nevada’s Dreamers, and I’m glad today’s announcement finally guarantees DACA recipients access to ACA coverage,” said Senator Rosen. “The thousands of Dreamers who live, work, and go to school in our great state of Nevada deserve to have peace of mind, and I won’t stop pushing for a permanent fix and a pathway to citizenship for Nevada’s Dreamers.”

Senator Rosen has repeatedly called for a legislative fix to protect DACA recipients and provide them a pathway to citizenship. At a hearing last month, she raised concerns over the significant application delays impacting DACA recipients. At the end of the 117th Congress, Senator Rosen gave a floor speech urging her Senate colleagues to take immediate, standalone action to permanently protect Dreamers while simultaneously continuing to work to pass comprehensive immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship. And after a Rosen-backed push last year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security extended Temporary Protected Status designation for El Salvador and Honduras.
