Mariposa Democratic Club January Meeting – CalFire
The Mariposa Democratic Club is pleased to announce representatives from CalFire will be speaking at our meeting on Saturday, January 9, 2016, 9:45, at Miner’s Roadhouse.
A new fire season will soon be upon us; CalFire representatives will be discussing lessons learned from fires last summer, and what current recommendations are for clearing around the house. From CalFire’s website: “The men and women of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) are dedicated to the fire protection and stewardship of over 31 million acres of California's privately-owned wildlands. In addition, the Department provides varied emergency services in 36 of the State's 58 counties via contracts with local governments. The Department's firefighters, fire engines, and aircraft respond to an average of more than 5,600 wildland fires each year. Those fires burn more than 172,000 acres annually. “
With the tree mortality disaster, preventing fires is more important than ever; come to the meeting to get your questions answered. Let’s not relax just because we’ve had some good rain and snow lately!
