Student Loan DonationDave Gerken of Alpine Builders handing a check to Donna Lowrimore, Treasurer of the Student Loan Association

Mariposa County Student Loan Association was founded on March 5, 1953, when a group of civic, fraternal and religious organizations came together to assist college bound students. The Student Loan Association was started with $850.00 donated by the Raynor W. Schlageter Memorial, Mariposa Lions Club, P.T.A. Council and the Order of the Eastern Star. The main purpose of the loan program was to encourage the youth of our community to continue their education and prepare for more efficient service to the county and state.

The directors of the Student Loan Association are made up of contributing community organizations. These directors review, approve, and monitor the loans. To become a member of the Student Loan Association your organization is requested to donate a minimum of $75 a year. This small amount allows one of your members to become a director.

Over 450 loans have been loaned to students furthering their education, but more funds are needed to continue this valuable program. The Student Loan Association is a 501C tax exempt organization.

If you or your organization wishes to help fund the Student Loan Association please contact Tom Phillips, 209-966-2721, Delores Bartholomew at 209-966-4322 or send a check to the Mariposa Student Loan Association, PO Box 1112, Mariposa CA. 95338.
