May 27, 2024 - Yosemite National Park announces Yosemite mules are gearing up for a busy season.
We’re back! Home from their winter pasture, Yosemite’s mules are gearing up for another busy season. Our trusty mules work mostly behind the scenes—moving supplies for trail maintenance, servicing backcountry outhouses (including the bathrooms at Vernal Fall and Nevada Fall—no small task) and serving as an essential part of many search and rescue missions each summer.
In an effort to support and motivate them, our junior rangers got right to work creating this amazing poster, featuring an elusive Yosemite mulicorn… because the magic is only just beginning!
You too can show your appreciation to our mules when visiting the park this summer by yielding to them on trails and listening to directions from our mule packers to stay safe. Remember that the trails you are hiking and restrooms you are using are only available because of their hard work.
The work these mules do is made possible by the generous support of Yosemite Conservancy donors.
