Grants support work through community organizations statewide to prepare Californians for emergencies.

June 2, 2024 – SACRAMENTO, CA – In an ongoing effort to ensure disaster resiliency, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), on Friday announced the latest round of grant funding to support community-based organizations helping to prepare Californians for a wide range of hazards and disasters, including severe weather and wildfires expected in the months ahead.

“This grant funding supports vital, ongoing work to ensure all communities in our state are ready to protect themselves during emergencies and threats stemming from severe weather,” said Nancy Ward, Director of Cal OES. “This latest round of support for the Listos California program will help support boots on the ground and education efforts for priority populations.”

The grants, authorized in last budget year and awarded for the fourth consecutive year, support disaster resiliency work that will be carried out statewide through 2025 by 64 non-profit organizations.

The award notice comes as California continues preparing for extreme heat and wildfires expected in the months ahead.
