June 4, 2024 – Yosemite National Park release video full of information on Ackerson Meadow Restoration.

Ackerson Meadow is one of the largest publicly owned mid-elevation meadows in the Sierra Nevada, and the largest in Yosemite National Park. It is an ecologically and regionally critical wildlife corridor that supports incredible biodiversity but has been impacted by decades of extensive erosion.

Restoring Ackerson Meadow is the largest wetland restoration project in Yosemite’s history. It is the largest restoration project, by fill volume, to date within the Sierra Nevada. The full fill restoration technique being used immediately returns hydrologic function to the meadow, and maximizes renewal of high-quality wildlife habitat, as well as resistance and resilience of the meadow and downstream communities to the effects of climate change.
