Illegal Marijuana Cultivation Site Removed
June 6, 2024 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on May 28th, 2024, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for an illegal marijuana cultivation site within Calaveras County.
The site was located in the 400 block of Blossom Lane in Railroad Flat. A total of three outdoor growing structures were located at the scene, all containing actively growing marijuana plants. Deputies seized 2,501 actively growing marijuana plants with an estimated value exceeding $379,000. Roughly 213 pounds of processed marijuana was also located at the scene, which has an estimated value exceeding $42,700. No suspects were contacted at the time of the warrant. Evidence was collected at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
A California Department of Fish and Wildlife Biologist assisted with the above-mentioned site. These Biologists ultimately investigated potential hazards related to fertilizer and chemical runoff and their environmental impact. It was discovered that the subjects maintaining the illegal cultivation site also illegally harvested a deer outside hunting season.
