June 18, 2024 - WASHINGTON, DC – On Monday, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that she joined bipartisan jacky rosen senator nevadalegislation to permanently ban bump stocks for firearms after the Supreme Court reversed the Trump-era ban. Bump stocks, which modify semi-automatic firearms to increase their rate of fire, were used in the 1 October shooting in Las Vegas. Rosen co-sponsored similar legislation in the immediate aftermath of the 1 October shooting.

“The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the Trump-era bump stock ban was a brazen reversal of a common-sense measure to help prevent the kind of mass violence we saw on 1 October in Las Vegas, which remains the deadliest shooting in American history,” said Senator Rosen. “For years, I’ve been calling on my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass bipartisan legislation to permanently ban bump stocks for firearms and keep communities safe. After the Supreme Court’s misguided decision, I’m signing on to this bipartisan bill to increase the pressure to pass federal legislation and get these dangerous gun modifications off the streets.”

Senator Rosen has championed the fight against gun violence. In 2018, she welcomed the Trump Administration’s action to federally ban bump stocks after the 1 October shooting in Las Vegas. Since then, Senator Rosen has been calling for common-sense legislation to permanently ban bump stocks for firearms and protect communities. She has also renewed this call on the Senate floor and urged her colleagues on both sides of the aisle to take life-saving bipartisan action to curb gun violence.
