January 13, 2016 - WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) voted today in favor of S.J. Res. 22, a joint resolution between the House and Senate that nullifies the Environmental Protection Agency’s jeff denham officialproposed “Waters of the U.S.” rule.

The controversial rule would subject even the most minuscule bodies of water to federal regulation under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act. Thirty-one states have contended the rule’s constitutionality in federal court, and in October, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit struck it down and blocked its implementation. The bipartisan, bicameral resolution now goes to the President’s desk for his signature.

“I cast my vote today to protect the Central Valley from yet another set of regulations that would have a catastrophic impact on our ag community,” said Rep Denham. “The EPA’s shameless attempt to commandeer the property rights and precious resources of hardworking farmers, ranchers and business owners must be stopped.”

Rep. Denham has voted repeatedly to rein in overregulation and prevent implementation of the “Waters of the U.S.” rule. He co-sponsored and voted in favor of H.R. 1732, the Regulatory Integrity Protection Act, which passed the House last May, and H.R. 5078, the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protection Act, which passed the House in September 2014.
