July 4, 2024 – During CAL FIRE Office of the State Fire Marshal press conference, Holly Carr, whose daughter suffered severe burns at the age of five, discussed how the horrifying event has impacted her family’s life and why parents need to have a heightened level of focus during the Fourth of July. 

The press conference took place at McClellan Park at the CAL FIRE Aviation Management Unit where members from CAL FIRE, the Sacramento Fire Department, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, UC Davis Firefighters Burn Institute Regional Burn Center, and the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office gathered to discuss the dangers of using illegal fireworks and why it’s important to use legal fireworks safely.
