Homicide Detectives Arrest Two Suspects for Mendota Murder
July 12, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a father and son for their roles in a recent murder. Both share the same names of Javier Medina and have been booked into the Fresno County Jail. The 61-year-old Medina faces a charge of accessory to murder and he also had an outstanding warrant for child molestation. The 38-year-old Medina faces a charge of murder.
Shortly before 8:30 A.M. on Friday, July 5, 2024, deputies were dispatched to check on an injured person near Shields and Fairfax Avenues, just outside of Mendota. Upon arrival, deputies were directed to a cornfield where they found a man who was deceased. He was later identified as 37-year-old Antonio Torres Ochoa of Mendota.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation. Detectives developed information that identified 38-year-old Javier Medina, a.k.a. Juju, as the primary suspect. Detectives visited his home, executed a search warrant and arrested Medina for murder. An additional search warrant was then served at his father’s home in Mendota. Detectives then arrested 61-year-old Javier Medina for being an accessory to the murder. This is an isolated incident where the victim and suspects knew each other. Detectives continue to work to determine a motive.
