July 17, 2024 - LAS VEGAS, NV – On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) sent a letter to Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) and jacky rosen senator nevadaRanking Member Mike Crapo (R-ID) of the Senate Committee on Finance, urging them to provide tax relief to grow the middle class and lower costs for working families and small businesses, while ensuring massive corporations and the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share. As the committee considers tax reform proposals ahead of the forthcoming expiration of a large portion of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Senator Rosen is outlining her priorities for providing families economic relief through a broad-based middle-class tax cut, expansion of the Child Tax Credit, eliminating the federal income tax on tipped income, enhancing tax credits to lower housing costs for hardworking Nevadans, and more.

“As the Senate Finance Committee prepares for next year’s expiration of a large portion of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA), I urge the Committee to prioritize reforms that lower costs for hardworking families, deliver middle-class tax relief, help small businesses grow and thrive, support our veterans, and ensure that massive corporations and the ultra-wealthy are paying their fair share,” wrote Senator Rosen. “Our country cannot afford another tax package that provides more handouts for billionaires and corporate special interests at the expense of regular Nevadans.”

“For the many teachers, nurses, hospitality workers, law enforcement officers, first responders, and other hardworking Nevadans who call Nevada home and are struggling with the rising cost of living, they deserve lower costs and meaningful tax relief,” she continued. “Congress should advance tax policies that will put more money in their pockets and give them some much-needed breathing room.”

Senator Rosen has been fighting to cut taxes and lower costs for hardworking Nevadans. Earlier this year, she sent a letter urging Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to put a bipartisan tax cut package on the Senate floor for a vote. Last year, she helped introduce the Working Families Tax Relief Act to lower taxes for Nevada families by expanding the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit. Senator Rosen also introduced a resolution opposing the creation of a federal sales tax and calling for a tax cut for working families to grow the middle class.
