July 18, 2024 – Calaveras County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 27, 2024, at about 5:30 P.M., deputies contacted the victim of a domestic violence incident that occurred a few days earlier in the 2000 block of Lily Gap Road, West Point. The victim told deputies they arrived home to find suspect Jordan Fox Peters, age 27, of West Point, apparently under the influence of drugs. The victim explained that suspect Jordan has a history of violence while under the influence of drugs and did not feel safe being around him in his intoxicated condition. When the victim attempted to leave, suspect Jordan became angry, yelling at the victim and blocking their attempts to leave. The victim became concerned for their safety and utilized a cellular telephone to activate 911. During the victim's attempt to call 911, suspect Jordan pushed a young child out of the way, grabbed the victim by the throat with one hand, and removed the cellular phone from the victim’s hand to prevent any communication with the 911 center. Suspect Jordan damaged the victim's cell phone, rendering it inoperable. The victim and children were able to leave the residence. At the initial report of this incident, deputies could not locate suspect Jordan.

On July 5, 2024, in coordination with Calaveras County Probation Officers, suspect Jordan was located near Silver Mountain Road in Railroad Flat. Suspect Jordan was taken into custody without incident. While conducting a search of the vehicle Jordan was driving, deputies located usable quantities of methamphetamine and drug-related paraphernalia. Suspect Jordan was transported to the Calaveras County Jail and booked on charges of felony domestic violence, felony criminal threats, misdemeanor child abuse, and misdemeanor drug charges.

While suspect Jordan was in custody, deputies continued their efforts to ensure that he did not have any access to weapons. Again, coordinating with the probation department, they conducted a search of his residence to ensure he was complying with the terms of his probation. While searching suspect Jordan’s main living area and attached crawlspace, deputies and probation officers located several rounds of live ammunition, parts to a handgun (barrel and slide), psilocybin and mushrooms, and electric blasting caps. While processing the scene and collecting evidence, deputies noticed a hidden attached room concealed with plywood. Inside the hidden room, they located a gun safe containing additional ammunition. In total, deputies located 689 rounds of ammunition in six different calibers, which were seized and collected as evidence. Suspect Jordon was booked on additional charges of (felony) possession of a destructive device without a permit (blasting caps), (felony) prohibited person possessing ammunition, and (misdemeanor) possession of a narcotic controlled substance.
