July 20, 2024 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on July 16, 2024, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (KC-HIDTA) concluded a narcotics investigation with the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of Eureka Street, Bakersfield. The investigation resulted in the arrest of one (1) adult and the seizure of narcotics, several firearms and stolen property.

During the investigation, Oscar Bustos (age 30) of Bakersfield was found to be maintaining the residence for the purpose of drug sales. A search of the residence and vehicles revealed approximately 3/4 pounds of methamphetamine, a stolen AR-15 rifle, three (3) handguns located in hidden compartments inside the vehicles and a stolen agriculture ATV. Two of the illegally possessed firearms were located in an aftermarket head rest safe installed in the vehicles passenger seat.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Rural Crimes Investigative Unit and Kern County Probation Department assisted the KC-HIDTA Task Force in the investigation.

Oscar Bustos was arrested booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Lerdo Justice Facility for the following charges: possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, maintaining a residence for drug sales, possession of an assault rifle, possession of a firearm/ ammunition by a felon, possession of a controlled substance while being armed with a loaded firearm, resisting arrest, child endangerment and possession of stolen property.
