July 23, 2024 - SAN FRANCISCO - The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will host the 5th annual post-season/pre-season public briefings for electric public safety power shutoffinvestor-owned utilities to present lessons learned from Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events in 2023 and preparedness for PSPS events in 2024.

The electric utilities will provide updates on their efforts and coordination with public safety partners, critical infrastructure and facilities, and customers, including those most vulnerable or with access and functional needs. At two hybrid in-person and virtual briefings, the utilities will present on efforts to mitigate customer impacts and will identify changes to PSPS processes or operations in 2024 based on lessons learned.

  • August 7, 2024, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • August 8, 2024, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

           

WHY: The CPUC oversees the utilities’ preparation for and execution of PSPS events and has been driving the utilities to improve in response to lessons learned from previous PSPS events. The electric utilities submit their 2023 post-season reports to the CPUC by March 1, 2024, and 2024 pre-season reports to the CPUC by July 1, 2024.
