July 24, 2024 – Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office officials report that in a display of top-notch training, our Air 101 unit, along with deputies from our Special Vehicle Operations Unit (SVOU) responded to a call near the Stanislaus River. They were alerted to two women in distress after one experienced severe pain while floating down the river.
Our specialized river deputies navigated challenging terrain to reach them, assessing the injured woman's condition and determining the need for immediate assistance. Our Air 101 team deployed the long line rescue technique to safely transport both women to a nearby field, where they immediately received medical care from personnel with Oak Valley Ambulance.
This incident underscores the importance of wearing life jackets and knowing your limits when enjoying our beautiful waterways throughout Stanislaus County.
