Law Enforcement Activity Near Peaceful Valley Road Sonora 

July 28, 2024 – Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday at about 11:45 a.m. deputies responded to the area of Peaceful Valley Road in Sonora for a report of a minor who had suffered an injury after an explosion. When deputies arrived, they located materials consistent with manufacturing explosive devices. The Joint Calaveras/ San Joaquin County Bomb Squad deputies were called and responded to assist.

Tuolumne County Investigations Division Detectives were on scene actively investigating the incident. There is no threat to the public, but there is currently a law enforcement presence in the area. The involved minor was flown to a medical facility for treatment of his injuries.

Due to this being an active investigation we will not be releasing further information at this time. We will keep our community updated with more information as the investigation progresses.
