February 1, 2016 - On Saturday afternoon, January 30, 2016, the Merced Police Department’s Detectives Division and the Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) developed information that Kamare Bailey,18, was involved in the Officer involved shooting from earlier that occurred in the 1100 block of Crescent Drive in Merced.
The Gang Violence Suppression Unit and the Detectives Division served a search warrant in the 1500 block of E 26th Street, Merced and located Kamare Bailey hiding inside the home.

Officers searched the residence and located a stolen 40 caliber handgun, a 9mm handgun and ammunition.
Kamare Bailey was arrested and booked at the jail for felon in possession of firearms, receiving stolen property, brandishing a firearm and gang enhancements.

February 1, 2016 - The Merced Police Department responded to a loud party call in the 1100 Block of Crescent Drive at 12:48 A.M. on January 30, 2016.
When officers arrived there was a large party that was breaking up. One officer saw the suspect pulling out a gun as the suspect was walking towards another officer that was seated in his patrol vehicle. The officer gave the suspect orders to drop the gun and he refused. The officer fired one round, missing the suspect. The suspect then dropped the gun and fled on foot.
An extensive search was done of the area but officers did not locate the suspect.
The Merced Police Department Investigations Unit is actively investigating this case.
There is no suspect description available at this time.
There were no injuries to officers and/or citizens.
