August 14, 2024 – Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that Monday night, around 9:30 P.M., our deputies were called to assist the Madera County Sheriff’s Office with a missing person case. The individual was believed to be near Highway 152 in the Pacheco Pass area.

Deputy Alsup and his loyal K9 partner, Cooper, led the search. Cooper’s keen sense of smell guided them to a steep drop-off, where the individual was found disoriented and dehydrated. Thanks to Cooper’s exceptional tracking skills and the quick response of our team, the individual received the medical attention needed and was safely transported to a hospital for further care—a big thank you to all the deputies involved and especially to K9 Cooper for their outstanding efforts.
